(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, provided a report on the recently held event.He referred to the naming of the Friday in Islamic Unity Week after the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and praised the ceremonies held for the event across the world including Pakistan, Egypt, Iraq, Turkey and the UK.According to the scholar, the flag and logo for the Unified Islamic Ummah were also unveiled in the sideline of the 26th International Islamic Unity Week.He also noted the ceremony to mark the efforts of Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, former Secretary of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.He said praised 26th International Islamic Unity Conference as more gloriously than previous years and said, “This conference was attended by 280 Shia and Sunni figures from around the world including prominent elites from Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Algiers, Syria, Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq and European countries including Germany, England and France.”Ayatollah Araki also praised the participation of Shia jurisprudents as a maiden move in this conference.Top Iranian cleric noted the formation of Permanent Peace Committee as a great achievement in this summit saying the aim behind launching the committee is to propose solutions for the regional and Muslim world crisis.According to the Secretary of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought the committee comprises 21 members from Shia and Sunni scholars who will hold their first meeting in Beirut in near future.Also launching an organization for Muslim Activist Women and preliminary committee for Union of Muslim Merchants were among other decisions in the 26th International Islamic Unity Conference.Meeting of the participants in this conference with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and also a poetry reading ceremony were among the events in the sideline of this conference.Secretary of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought also referred to the plans in the field of sports, arts and youths activities in a bid to boost proximity among different Islamic denominations. /129
